I’m pretty sure my vehicle can’t be fixed, or that the cost of repair is going to be more than the vehicle is worth. What’s going to happen?

A:

If your vehicle is badly damaged and is older, or if it cannot be driven safely after a collision, the insurance company of the owner at fault driver will send out an appraiser to examine the vehicle and estimate the cost of repair.
The insurance company of the owner at fault is required to pay either what it costs to fix your vehicle or the “fair market value” of your vehicle-whichever is less.
