Q: The insurance company is going to pay for a rental car.; How does that work?
A:
If the insurance company of the owner at fault is paying for a rental car:
a. you will probably be sent to a particular car rental company where that insurance company gets unbeatable rates
b. you will probably be allowed a vehicle of a size and type similar to the one that was damaged, but make sure you ask what the insurance company is going to pay for each day of rental. If the company is willing to pay $28 per day, and you rent a car that is $35 per day, you are going to have to pay the difference;
c. the insurance company should agree to be billed directly.
