In Connecticut one man was seriously injured when he was struck from behind by a drunk driver. The accident occurred on southbound Interstate 95 in Groton. The injured party was listed in stable condition at the time of this report.

Man Seriously Injured in Connecticut Drunk Driving Accident

According to the Norwich Bulletin a man from Uncasville has been charged with drunken driving.  The driver, 28-year-old Colby Kay, was driving on Interstate 95 in Groton when he struck another vehicle from behind.  Traffic on the southbound section of the interstate was closed for several hours as police cleared the scene and investigated the accident.

The driver of the other vehicle, a Groton resident, was flown by Life Star helicopter to Hartford Hospital for serious injuries.  The accident victim had to be extracted from his mangled vehicle and was listed in stable condition.

According to witnesses and police Kay was driving at a high rate of speed and was also seen swerving.  Kay was not injured during the crash and has been charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs, reckless driving and following too close.
